A benchmark expression of Savennières, the 2021 Clos de la Hutte is all about precision, tension and quiet power. There’s a real sense of energy, citrus driven with notes of lemon tart, a touch of toast and that classic Chenin waxiness, all underpinned by a distinctly saline mineral line. The palate is laser focused, bright and dry with subtle savoury complexity, finishing long and refined. For us, it is one of the most compelling examples of Chenin Blanc we have tasted.
Thibaud Boudignon is one of the standout producers in Savennières, making some of the most precise and site driven Chenin Blanc in the Loire. After gaining experience across Burgundy, Bordeaux and Australia, he settled in the region and gradually built a small domaine spanning key sites like Clos de la Hutte and Clos de Fremine, along with parcels in Anjou. Working organically with close attention to vineyard detail, he keeps yields low and harvests by hand. In the cellar, he takes a light touch with natural ferments, large format oak and minimal sulphur, letting the terroir come through clearly. The result is wines of real purity, tension and depth, with a strong reputation for ageing and a habit of disappearing quickly each year.
