This ain’t no run of the mill Italian Grigio. Carved out by glaciers, the elevated terraces of mountainous Alto Adige produce the best aromatic whites in Italy. The region is warmed by the Mediterranean during the day, and cooled by the Alps at night. That kind of diurnal shift is a feature of most kiwi wine regions incidentally. Lifted, pretty aromatics and freshness are an outstanding feature here.
Excelling with fragrant white varieties, Cantina Terlano is regarded as one of the best cooperatives in the world. A cooperative is a group of growers pursuing wine production together, pooling the costs of production, marketing and sales. It’s a model we don’t see in our industry here, but is very common in Europe.
