This is bloody schmick Marlborough Chardy. It’s medium to full bodied, forward in citrus and stone fruits, with well judged oak use and freshness. It’s big on value. Poplars Vineyard sits at the mouth of the Brancott Valley, and is certified organic. Hand-picked fruit was whole bunch pressed and wild fermented in barrel (15% new). It was aged for 12 months on lees before being bottled without fining.
Steve Planthaber was raised surrounded by vines in the Barossa. Having earned his stripes winemaking at Cloudy Bay, he established Settlement. The wines are sophisticated expressions of four different organic, Marlborough vineyards.
