With a depth and character that punches well above it's price point, this Sardinian red has a lovely play of bright fruit with savoury, earthy complexity. Lifted red berried fruit and plum intertwine with dried herb and petrichor aromatics. The palate is medium bodied, elegant and fruitful with grainy tannins on the finish. Cannonau is the Sardinian name for Grenache, a variety that performs very well in hot, mediterranean climates, as is very well demonstrated here. 

Founded in 1899 by two Piedmontese entrepreneurs, engineer Erminio Sella and lawyer Edgardo Mosca, Sella & Mosca began as an extraordinary agricultural project to transform the uncultivated Sardinian land into vineyards. Today it is one of Italy’s largest contiguous vineyard estates, with around 520 hectares of vines within a 650-hectare property, and has played an important role in establishing Sardinia as a serious source of quality wine. Now part of the Moretti family’s Terra Moretti group, the estate remains particularly significant for its commitment to Sardinian varieties including Cannonau, Vermentino, Torbato and Carignano, while its sheer scale allows it to explore the island’s diverse soils and microclimates.
