Robert Weil Kiedricher Riesling Trocken 2021
The folks at Robert Weil describe this wine as having ‘a stately Baroque body’. We’d interpret that as meaning there’s some ornate detail going on. And we’d agree, with its citrus and stone fruit flavours woven into dry, lengthy minerality. This baroque bad arse will elevate simple, fresh seafood, but is a treat on its own too.
On the label, Kiedricher refers to it being their village wine from Kiedrich. Trocken refers to it being dry to taste.
Established in 1875 in the town of Kiedrich, Rheingau, Robert Weil has become one of Germany’s most celebrated estates. That distinctive pale blue label is spotted a mile off by wine lovers the world over. Now in the hands of 4th generation Wilhelm Weil, quality is still at the fore. Their 90 hectares of organically farmed vineyards are situated on steep, rocky, south-facing slopes, sheltered from cold northerly winds by the Taurus mountains.
