We won’t be shy in saying that this is our favourite New Zealand Pinot Gris. It shows the Alsatian side of the variety; all pears, ripe apple and sweet spices. But before you lazily quaff away, you’ll taste that this is all cleanly bound up with citrusy, alpine freshness. Kick-arse Central Otago Pinot Gris.
Winemaker Paul Pujol remembers the first time he saw snow on the ground in November at Prophet Rock’s Bendigo vineyards in Central Otago. The adage that the greatest wines come from marginal climates really plays out here. Having honed his craft with European legends (Maison Kuentz-Bas and Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé), Paul’s sophisticated expressions of this beautiful and extreme part of the world are among New Zealand’s best.
