Nicosia Vulkà Etna Rosso 2018

$38.00

The reds of Mount Etna have a serious following, and some come with a pretty serious price tag. So we were stoked to find this. It has the fragrance and fine but stern structure that has always drawn us to the wines of Etna. It’s shy at first but sweet fruited aromatics of strawberry and cherry open up, with wild herb and savoury undertones. It’s made from 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio, grown at 700 metres above sea level on the south eastern side of the mountain.

The Nicosia family have been producing wine in Sicily since the late 1800s. Still very much a family business today, the wines are a great expression of the unique and varied terroir of Mount Etna and the south east of Sicily.
