This is a great example of the understated intensity through Labet’s wines. Poised and precise, the aromatics here are pretty, with florals, beeswax and fresh herbs. There’s chalky, mineral tension through the palate, and citrus and stonefruit notes with hazelnut complexity. From 3 vineyards planted between 1975 and 1994, the wine is named after the Liasic marle soils. The wine was aged for 34 months in 228, 500, and 600 litre barrels.

Based in Rotalier in the southern Jura, the late Alain Labet pioneered the region's shift to site specific wines in the 1970s. Today the family work their 13 hectares of vines organically and focus on site expression through meticulous vineyard work and low-intervention élevage. Labet’s wines tend toward purity and tension, often vinified ouillé rather than in the region’s more oxidative style, though always with a subtle nod to Jura identity.
