Our favourite iteration of this wine so far. Cabernet Franc predominant in 2024, it's very 'Loire' in style - bright fruited, a woody undertone and medium bodied, with lovely freshness and tension. The Merlot component (30%) rounds the wine out beautifully. You might be accustomed to Hawke's Bay reds being big and brooding, but Dave from Kenzie challenges convention once again, and we love it. Fruit comes from Paritua’s organic vineyards. Both varieites were destemmed and coferemented before being pressed into seasoned oak.
After 15 successful years of winemaking in Australia, Dave MacIntosh is back in New Zealand reconnecting with the place he grew up, Hawkes Bay / Te Matau a Māui. Fruit for these releases are sourced from 4 organic vineyards from across the region. We love Dave’s willingness to challenge convention in terms of wine style, and his deft winemaking touch in delivering wines of vibrancy, energy and freshness.
