Aussie Chardonnay at its best. Complex in aromatics - white flowers, almond, quince and white peach with dried pear and fig - the palate is layered and concentrated, balancing ripe stone fruit and pear with savoury complexity, fine phenolic structure, mineral tension and persistent acidity. A flagship Margaret River Chardonnay, it was grown on the estate’s dry-farmed, biodynamically certified Wilyabrup vineyard, from own-rooted Wente-clone vines planted in 1976. The 2024 vintage was exceptionally hot, dry and early, producing concentrated fruit while retaining the wine’s characteristic freshness and precision. Hand-harvested across 5 picks, the fruit was whole-bunch basket-pressed into French oak puncheons, 50% new, where indigenous yeasts carried out both primary and malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
The Cullen family are not only pioneers of wine growing in Margaret River, but also pioneers of organic and biodynamic production in Australia. Having been established by Kevin and Diana Cullen in Wilyabrup in the 1960s, their daughter Vanya has firmly established the estate as one of Australia’s best. They were the first estate to become certified carbon neutral, and with low yields, dry farming and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
