Clemens Busch Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling GG 2023

Clemens Busch Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling GG 2023

$105.00

Energetic, dry and taut, this is intense, ageworthy Riesling. Undoubtedly belonging in the Grosses Gewächs (GG) classification, in short a German grand cru vineyard, pretty fruit aromatics are anchored by smokey, mineral drive and eclectic acidity. From the blue slate soils of the Fahrlay parcel within the Mosel’s Marienburg vineyard, organically and biodynamically grown fruit was hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for around a year in traditional large oak foudres.

The vineyards of Clemens Busch, by the Mosel River, have been family-owned for more than 200 years, run today by Clemens and Rita Busch. Through the bottling of individual parcels, their wines vividly express the diversity of the estate’s coloured slate soils. Regarded as one of Germany's pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture, they have been farming organically since the 1980s and biodynamically since 2005. The Mosel region produces wines at varied levels of sweetness, this estate being most well known for dry wines, especially from Grosses Gewächs vineyards.
