A youthful, fruit-driven expression of Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino) from one of Spain’s most prestigious regions, Ribera del Duero. With aromatics of wild berries, red cherry, raspberry and violets, alongside hints of cinnamon and liquorice, there’s a nice richness to the palate. The fruit forwardness is underpinned by savoury depth, and coming from high altitude vineyards, this also retains nice freshness. The fruit comes from several estate vineyards around Sotillo de la Ribera, planted on clay and clay-loam soils at around 830–850 metres, with vines over 40 years old.

While the Callejo family's connection with the vineyards of Ribera del Duero goes back generations, the estate as founded by Félix and Pilar Callejo in 1989 Today the second generation runs the show, applying their winemaking experience at other great estates around the world, to production from 55 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. With 27 parcels encompassing markedly different elevations, orientations and soils, the family demonstrates that the cooler, high-altitude northern reaches of Ribera del Duero can produce Tempranillo with both concentration and freshness, all done in modern styles.
