Alois Lageder Chardonnay 2022
Italian Chardonnay may not be on your radar, but it isn’t a new thing. Chardonnay has been planted in the Alto Adige, the northern Italian region from where this wine hails, since 1835. We love the mealy, nutty flavours here. The palate has a creamy texture with medium body and a citrusy finish. All in all, this is a satisfying, tasty glass of Chard.
The Alois Lageder estate has been in the same family for six generations, based in Magrè at the foothills of the Dolomites. Fine tuning their craft over the years, the Lageder family now have 55 hectares of their own vineyards, and source fruit from a further 85 hectares in the region. All the vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic, and range in altitude from 200 to 1000 metres above sea level.
