Having been enamoured with Hawkes Bay on a visit from the States, the Koopman family decided to move to the region, and planted vines at their Pakipaki property in 2005. Since then, Pieter Koopman has cemented himself as one of the go-to winemakers in the region. They’re guided by organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyard. Pieter's daughter, Annabelle and her Belgium partner Bart are now on board, and have released their own label, Aard. These wines are playful, alternative expressions of estate grown, organic Syrah that are not to be missed.
