We opened this without giving it much thought. That changed the moment we tasted it. It’s exceptionally good, complex Chardonnay. There’s the characteristics we love of Napa Chardonnay - it’s generously flavoured and textured. But it’s all balanced with savouriness and freshness. The Linda Vista vineyard is certified organic. Planted in 1989 in West Oak Knoll, the cool winds and clay soils made it more preferable for growing Chardonnay over Cabernet. Fruit is whole bunch pressed, aged in seasoned French oak with just under half going through malolactic fermentation.
Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson have spent their working lives dedicated to sustainable and organic farming. Based on what we’ve tasted, we just hope they keep applying their combined knowledge and experience to making these excellent Californian wines.
