G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe 2015
2015 Barolo Albe (meaning sunrises) opens with a bright, expressive nose, rose petal perfumes and a perfectly judged equilibrium of tannin and acidity. An incredibly long finish indicates the exceptional quality of this Nebbiolo.
Fun Fact: This wine appeared alongside Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in the 2015 Hollywood film, Burnt.
Founded by Aldo Vajra, G.D. Vajra was established in 1972 and named after Aldo’s father, Giuseppe Domenico. Aldo was one of the earliest to adopt organic farming in Piemonte. They are sustainable and certified organic. The estate is now run by the second generation Giuseppe, Isidoro and Francesca Vajra, lovingly overseen by their parents Aldo and Milena. Expressing the lighter, sandier soils of the western part of Barolo, Vajra wines show elegance. And this is aligned with a vibrancy and depth only derived from exemplary viticulture. This is why the wines are continuously referred to as the benchmark of Barolo.
