Dense, dark fruited and structured, this wine comes from Rasteau in the Southern Rhone Valley in France. A lesser known village, Domaine Soumade is the leading light here, producing Grenache predominant wines that seriously deliver in flavour and purity. Estate grown fruit was aged in concrete tanks for 1 year, followed by 6 months in oak barrels. 

Domaine Soumade was established in 1979 by André Roméro. Initially selling fruit to local cooperatives, André achieved his goal of solely bottling the domaine wines by 1990. His son Frédéric Roméro joined him in 1996, and the estate is now made up of 26 hectares of vines grown on rich limestone-clay soils.
