The red wines of Rioja have a bit of a reputation for being old school, savoury and dry. This large Spanish region in fact produces a really diverse range of styles. Including this charming example. 

From Rioja Alavesa, a hilly sub region, Laderas (meaning hillside) has bright and densely fruited, with the gently grippy tannins we love from pure Tempranillo. Made by two Master of Wine, one of whom is Waiheke based Sam Harrop, we’ll safely see good drinking from this estate for years to come.
