This is compelling Kiwi Chardonnay.. It’s got precision, texture, and a nutty complexity of flavour reminiscent of great Jura Chardonnay. It remains linear, with a citrusy core that’s finely coated and silky. Fruit is sourced from the organic Wrekin Vineyard in Marlborough, at the top of the Brancott Valley. It was whole bunch pressed and wild yeast femented in a mix of old puncheons and barriques, with constant lees stirring and aging for 18 months.

Ashleigh Barrowman, mentored by industry legends like Patrick Sullivan, Hans Herzog and Domaine Labet, returned to Marlborough in 2020 to make wines of her own. Enamoured with the certified organic Wrekin Vineyard in Marlborough, it's from here she crafts distinct single-vineyard, single-varietal wines that epitomise their origins. And for us, they are some of the most exciting wines in New Zealand at the moment.
