We love Gamay, and we love Italian wine. So this is dreamy….. and dreamy to taste. It’s red fruited with floral and licorice notes. It’s light, precise, refreshing and just asking to be chilled. It’s an obscurity, grown in the Valle d’Aosta, the mountainous north eastern region of Italy that borders France and Switzerland. The vineyards sit up high at 700 to 800 metres above sea level, and that Alpine energy comes through with every mouthful.
The Grosjean family have been in Valle d’Aosta since the 1700s, with their small, commercial wine production starting in the 1960s. Still very much a family affair, they successfully navigate wine growing at high altitude, and it’s all done organically.
