A very good friend of ours, who runs our favourite Melbourne Italian restaurant, calls this wine Mother’s milk. And she’s onto something. It’s delicately scented, with zesty freshness and a slight nuttiness. It has tremendous drinkability, without it being simple.
The Pieropan family have been producing wine in Soave Classico, to the east of Verona in the Veneto, since the 1890s. They’ve always led the region, never resting on their laurels. They were the first to label a wine Soave in the 1930s, the first to bottle a single vineyard Soave, and have worked hard to gain organic certification for their whole production.
