Fresh and dry, this is beautifully concentrated and textured, with notes of pineapple, and yellow stone fruits, finishing with a long, saline finish. Hand picked with multiple passes through the estate’s organically managed vineyards, fruit was direct pressed into neutral, large format oak barrels for wild fermentation.
Although they’ve been producing wine in Pfalz since the 1700s, Koehler-Ruprecht finally became internationally recognised for their textural, complex wines in the last 30 years. From 12.5 hectares of limestone-rich vineyards around Kallstadt, the wines are fermented spontaneously and raised in old oak, often with extended lees ageing and late release, resulting in a style that is dense, savoury and powerful. The estate is owned by the Sauvage Family, of Burn Cottage fame, and winemaking is in the hands of the talented Dominik Sona.
