This is exactly why the wine world is enamoured with the wines of Mount Etna. Fragrance, red berried fruits, red liquorice and florals served up with tobacco and spice. The palate has incredible tension, softened by juicy extract. It’s predominately Nerello Mascalese with a pinch of Nerello Cappuccio. It’s biodynamic, foot crushed and aged in amphora. I Vigneri is the soulful, considered and dedicated pursuit of Salvo Foti, and his sons. This oenologist and winemaker is instrumental in the recent renaissance of the wines of Mount Etna. There’s a very close relationship with the land, and a commitment to ensuring local people and craft are integral. The 7 hectares of close-planted bush vines are grown around the mountain, at varied altitudes from 500 to 1300 metres above sea level. It has become one of the most iconic and formative producers in this very exciting wine region.
