Characterful and satisfying Chianti, this has both a forward fruit profile, and old school, savoury undertones. There’s a richness in the palate, with grainy, lengthy tannins. It's made from 100% Sangiovese from across the estate’s south facing, organic vineyards. The wine was aged in large format slavonian oak for 12 months, and for a further 3 months in bottle before release.
This estate dates back to the 1400s, when it was originally owned and farmed by the Benedictine monks of Siena. And it is planted on holy ground, namely the Conca d’Ora, or golden basin, which is well known as one of Chianti’s best sites. Today the estate’s 60 hectares are planted with vines and olives, all organically farmed.
