This is enticing with aromatics of red fruits, orange peel, wild herbs and baking spices. Its medium bodied and avoids being dense, propped up by dry tannic structure and a fiery finish. Organically grown Gaglioppo, a native Calabrian variety grown in sandy clay soils, was fermented in stainless steel and aged in concrete tanks for a year. 

The Scala family have been running this Calabrian estate, down at the toe of boot that is Italy, since 1949. Now in the hands of Luigi and Francesco Scala, they focus growing organic, indigenous varieties like Gaglioppo, Greco and Magliocco from their 18 hectares of vineyards.
