Patrick Bouju La Bohème Mol Rouge 2020

$56.00

This Rhone Valley red is a great expression of the vibrant, playful style Patrick Bouju does so well. It’s medium bodied, crunchy and red fruited, with a little smokey spice there too. Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan are sourced from the Ardeche, an up and coming part of the Rhone. A little Gamay is thrown in for good measure, all adding up to well measured good fun.

Patrick Bouju’s wines have quickly gained cult status in the natural wine scene, and has brought attention to a forgotten wine region in France. Having studied winemaking in Beaune, Patrick settled on the Auvergne, directly west of Lyon, establishing Domaine La Boheme from high altitude vineyards of volcanic soils. Gamay d’Auvergne is the main variety among other forgotten obscurities. He now sources fruit from Alsace, Beaujolais, Languedoc and Greece. The wines are organically grown and bottled without sulphites.
