Further proof of what a versatile and interesting grape Grenache is. This Spanish number is savoury and earthy in aromatics, and lightly structured with grainy, linear tannins. It’s unforced and complex. Fruit comes from different small, dry-farmed, organic vineyards in the Sierra de Gredos mountains. The soils are granitic. 

Having established a number of exciting wine projects in Spain, Curro Bareño and Jesus Olivares returned to their home region, teaming up with winemaking friends Paolo Armando and Victoria Serrano, to start Ca di Mat. Based in San Martin de Valdeiglesias in the mountains to the east of Madrid, the focus of this high altitude project is on old vines, organic practices, and long macerations delicately handled.
