Jenny Dobson Mac Merlot 2024
We’re loving the lighter, brighter styles of red emerging from the Hawkes Bay, including this from one of our favourite producers, Jenny Dobson. It’s Merlot, but think Beaujolais. It’s bursting with red and black fruits, and is light, juicy and supple to taste. Dedicated to her Uncle Mac, Jenny sees it as a reflection of gregarious nature and generous spirit. Fruit comes from the Lesley’s Vineyard in the Hawkes Bay Red Triangle growing district.
One of Hawkes Bay’s OGs, Jenny Dobson has been winemaking in the Bay since the mid ‘90's. Previous to that, her years of experience in Europe include working with the late and great Stephen Spurrier, working at Domaine Dujac, and most notably her role as Maître de Chais at Château Sénéjac in Haut Médoc. She was in fact the first female to achieve a cellar master position in Bordeaux. With her intricate understanding of wine growing in Hawkes Bay, it’s no surprise and high time that Jenny releases her own wines. The culmination of her talent, experience and passion is evident in every glass.
