This is beautifully balanced, harmonious Chardonnay. With purity of fruit, it has a supple, silky palate with an energetic, fresh finish.  Fruit comes from the estate's north-facing Home Block, planted with the Mendoza clone by Russell Black in 1994. It was hand picked, fermented with vineyard derived yeast and aged in large format oak for 8 months, with full malolactic fermentation. 

Black Estate is passionately owned and run by Pen Naish, Nicholas Brown and their families. They make wines from 3 organic and biodynamic certified vineyards in North Canterbury. It’s an evolving commitment to making excellent wine with true respect for their place. This commitment has deservedly been recognised by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, who named Nicholas as their New Zealand Winemaker of the year for 2022.
