A Thousand Gods Giara 2022
If you’ve got that mate that’s on the fence about orange wine, this will get them over it for sure. It’s one of our favourites in this style, for its beautiful texture and length. It’s both generous in flavour and delicate. The aromatics are enticing - citrus florals, honey, ginger and orange pith. Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier were hand picked from Churton’s biodynamic vineyard, and after a long fermentation, left on skins for 7 months in 800 litre clay amphora.
After spending a decade making wine in Cahors in the south west of France, Lauren and Simon Sharpe have returned to New Zealand to produce wine under their own label A Thousand Gods. Made from hand-picked fruit grown at Churton’s biodynamic Marlborough vineyards, the wines are fermented with wild yeast, with no additions, fining or filtering. All their winemaking experience and talent is evident, these wines are poised and delicious.
Organic, unfined, unfiltered, no additions, vegan
