A.A. Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2019
Lesser known to us here in NZ, Chenin Blanc is actually the most widely planted grape variety in South Africa, from where this Secateurs hails. When old bush vine Chenin is put into the talented hands of Swartland based Adi Bardenhorst, the result is truly satisfying drinking. Fleshy but fresh. Summery but serious.
After stints at Chateau Angelus, Alain Graillot, Wither Hills and 9 years at Rustenberg, Adi and his cousin Hein now farm from their own 60 hectares in Swartland. With biological farming and traditional winemaking techniques they produce natural wines of real character.
