Valdibella Zi Bi Bo Zibibbo 2022
This is bangin’. It’s full of the fragrance of orange, apricot, florals and lime. Its exuberant aromatics lead you to a moreish tangy, pithy palate, with medium body and the suggestion of wet stone-type minerality.
Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for the grape variety Muscat of Alexandria, which is pretty ancient, tracing back to the Phoenicians. It’s characterised by it’s lifted aromatics.
Valdibella is a cooperative of ten farmers based in the province of Palermo, in the west of Sicily. Everything is grown organically, and they focus on biodiversity, with considered and varied crops grown, including grapes of course. They are a member of Addiopizzo, a grassroots movement building businesses outside of the mafia stranglehold on the local economy in Sicily.
