Very complete and harmonious, this is special. Made from Xarel.lo, one of the main white grape varieties in Penedes, it has beautiful aromatics of white flowers and white stonefruit. It's the texture in the palate that really won us over here, all elegantly rounded. There's chalky, mineral persistance that lengthens it all out. Fruit was harvested from a single plot planted in 1955 on calcareous, clay soils. After maceration on skins for 24 hours, the pressed juice was wild yeast fermented and aged in amphora for 8 months.

In restoring their respective family’s vineyards, Ramon Jané and Toni Carbó established Mas Candi in 2006. Based in Penedes in Catalonia, they honour the region's history of making Spain’s best sparkling wines, as well as producing a range of very smart whites and reds. With biodynamic farming, they’re dedicated to the native grape varieties in this historic region.
