Antonelli Trebium Trebbiano Spoletino 2022
Trebbiano Spoletino (an Umbrian variety not related to generic Italian Trebbiano) is one to watch. It’s on the up, and we understand why. This is sophisticated and generous in aromatics - white flowers, peach and ripe citrus. It’s got a stone fruit flesh-like crunch, with texture and a clean line of acidity. Antonelli were one of the first Umbrian estates to rediscover this variety, and this is a benchmark example.
Antonelli is an Umbrian estate of 175 hectares, with 50 hectares planted in vines on the west and south facing slopes. Having been in the hands of the Antonelli family since 1881, Filippo Antonelli has been at the helm since 1986. Local varieties Grechetto, Trebbiano Spoletino, Sangiovese and Sagrantino are grown, all organically, and the wines are made in the estate's gravity fed winery.
