Tenute Sella Lessona 2018

$72.00

Nebbiolo as a variety can be tightly wound, but this is beautifully expressive - macerated strawberries, cherry, mushroom - with a palate that's got the taut, grainy structure that's true of the variety, but with a generosity of fruit. There's any underlying minerality there too. As we'd generally recommend with Nebbiolo this is worth decanting for couple of hours before drinking if you can. Lessona sits in upper Piemonte, sheltered by the surrounding mountains.

Tucked up in the northern part of Piemonte in northern Italy, away from the bright lights of Barolo and Barbaresco, Coste della Sesia is a tiny growing region focusing on varieties Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Croatina.  It’s here and in Lessona and Bramaterra that the Sella family have been winegrowing for 350 years. The estate remains in family hands, and dedicated to quality and sustainability.
