Tenuta di Carleone Chianti Classico 2021
Chianti is no one trick pony. Yes there are full bodied, rich styles, but then there are styles like this - elegant, fragrant, and precise. Don’t get us wrong, there’s still power here, but it’s taut and restrained, and we love it. Made from 100% estate grown, organic Sangiovese, winemaking is marked by long macerations, and aging in cement or stainless steel rather than oak.
Established in 2012, Tenuta di Carleone is a 100 hectare estate, with 30 of those hectares dedicated to vines and olive trees. Based in Radda, just north of Sienna, this part of Chianti Classico is one of the highest in altitude. Sean O’Callaghan, who has an amazing depth of experience in the region, heads up the estate. His approach is focused around organics, biodynamics, and producing wines that are pure and elegant.
