Calvert Pinot Noir 2018
It’s hallowed ground, down the far end of Felton Road in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Having purchased land here in 1989, Owen Calvert didn’t initially have specific intentions for it. It’s now a very intentional mix of organic vineyards and open, green space planted with trees. Over the years you might have seen the Calvert name on the labels of some iconic producers - Felton Road, Pyramid Valley and Craggy Range, but the time eventually came for Owen to produce his own wine. With winemaker Sarah Burton on board, the result is silky, fruit-laden, finely structured Pinot Noir. It’s clearly an amazing place to grow wine, with Owen and Sarah realising it’s potential.
“I'm most excited about the Calvert Vineyard because it has consistently shown the ability to grow clean, well structured, intensely flavoured Pinot Noir grapes” - Sarah Burton
