Mélange Du Champ 2022
This bright and enticing orange is indeed a champ. Florals and gingery, spiced aromatics are forward, and the palate is textural and lively. It’s produced from organically grown, co-fermented Gewurztraminer, Sauvingon Blanc and Pinot Gris. After 28 days of skin contact the wine was aged in old French puncheons.
Our wine industry in New Zealand is young relative to European countries. So when you see second generation producers coming to the fore, it's very exciting for the industry. Harrison Eaton, son of Michael Eaton who established the famous Clayvin vineyard among others, applies youthful curiosity and enthusiasm to his craft. Harrison is unafraid of pushing the boundaries in terms of wine style. Yet the wines display a high level of experience and confidence, reflecting his upbringing among the vines in Marlborough. Made from organically grown fruit, Mélange wines are all wild fermented, unfined and unfiltered.
Organic, unfiltered, unfined, minimal added sulphites
