James’ first orange wine, and it’s a banger. Unforced and aromatic, it’s got nice, pithy structure and bright fruit, with a vibrant freshness. Fruit was sourced from Carrick’s organic Bannockburn vineyard in Central Otago.

Nick Drake recorded an ethereal studio album in 1970 called Bryterlater. Ethereal too are James Opie’s Bryterlater releases from North Canterbury. Sourcing organic fruit from vineyards around the region, James produces wines that respect the varied nature of each growing season, and that are produced, as James says, “with patience in the vineyard and patience in the winery.”
