E&E Vocoret Chablis Bas de Chapelot 2021
Precise and fine, this has a beautiful, bright expression of fruit, with a nervy, chalky finish. As it’s name suggests, Le Bas de Chapelot, sits at the base of Chapelot, a premier cru vineyard that’s part of Montée de Tonnerre, adjacent to the Blanchot Grand Cru. Hand picked fruit from this organically managed site was whole bunch pressed and fermented in tank. After 6 months they moved it to barrel for year.
The bright, new stars of Chablis, Eduard and Eleni Vocoret met while working harvest in New Zealand incidentally. Edouard comes from the well established Chablis family, Vocoret et Fils, and Eleni worked as assistant winemaker with Chablis legend Vincent Dauvissat. With 5 hectares, including 0.3 in the Premier Cru Butteaux, they produced pristine, expressive, single site expressions of Chablis that, in a short amount of time, have gathered quite the following.
