A very giving glass of one of Piedmont’s work horse varieties, Dolcetto. Densely packed with flavours of dark berry, violet and spices, the palate is supple but finishes chiselled and fresh. Bricco Bastia is a vineyard on the village of Monforte’s highest hill, next to the estate’s winery.

Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno established their estate in 1982 and quickly made a name for themselves, producing Barolo, Dolcetto and Barbera in the more approachable style of Piedmonte’s ‘modernists’. It’s now a family affair, with Guido’s son Fabio in charge, further refining their beautiful wines.
