Causse Marines Peyrouzelles 2019

$42.00

A French obscurity well worth taking a punt on, this is from Gaillac in the south west of France. While it’s dark and brooding in flavour, the palate remains elegant with silky fruit coating its tannic structure. It’s a blend of local Gaillac varieties Braucol, Duras, Syrah and Alicante, all grown biodynamically.

Patrice Lescarret of Causse Marine learnt how to make wine in Bordeaux, arguably the centre of the winemaking establishment in France. Thinking for himself and outside of the square, he bought a small vineyard in Gaillac, a neglected and relatively unknown region near Toulouse. From here, he and some of his wine growing mates are committed to championing local varieties and biodynamic farming.
