It’s hallowed ground, down the far end of Felton Road in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Having purchased land here in 1989, Owen Calvert didn’t initially have specific intentions for it. It’s now a very intentional mix of organic vineyards and open, green space planted with trees. Over the years you might have seen the Calvert name on the labels of some iconic producers - Felton Road, Pyramid Valley and Craggy Range, but the time eventually came for Owen to produce his own wine. With winemaker Sarah Burton on board, the result is silky, fruit-laden, finely structured Pinot Noir. It’s clearly an amazing place to grow wine, with Owen and Sarah realising it’s potential.
