La Bohème Patrick Bouju R 2019

‘R’ stands for Riesling in this case, and fruit is sourced from Alsace, this noble variety’s French home. The wine expresses variety and place. It’s floral, with citrus and yellow stone fruit aromatics. There’s a richness in the palate, but it’s driven, dry and fresh.

Patrick Bouju’s wines have quickly gained cult status in the natural wine scene, and has brought attention to a forgotten wine region in France. Having studied winemaking in Beaune, Patrick settled on the Auvergne, directly west of Lyon, establishing Domaine La Boheme from high altitude vineyards of volcanic soils. Gamay d’Auvergne is the main variety among other forgotten obscurities. He now sources fruit from Alsace, Beaujolais, Languedoc and Greece. The wines are organically grown and bottled without sulphites.

Organic, unfined, unfiltered, no added sulphites
