Thymiopoulos Naoussa Alta 2018
Naoussa Alta really shows the structure and seriousness of Xinomavro, reminiscent to us of Italian Barbaresco. It’s medium in body, with layers of flavour and satisfying, savoury tannin. In Macedonia’s warm continental climate, grapes are grown on schist and granite soils at altitudes of 450 to 650 metres above sea level.
For generations the Thymiopoulos family have been growing Xinomavro (pronounced See-no-mav-ro), the indigenous grape of the highly regarded Náoussa zone in Greece’s far North. Committed to organic and biodynamic farming, every wine they produce reflects the specificity of the parcel it originates from.
