Ma Maison Pinot Noir 2017
Martinborough has become known for Pinot styles that are earthier than those of Marlborough or Central Otago. And this beauty is true to form, showing undertones of undergrowth, though it’s not without florals and spice. Savoury, finely structured tannin complete the picture of a Martinborough classic.
Edward and Marjory Leung of Ma Maison have long loved food and wine, running a Wellington restaurant of the same name for years. They started planting on free draining, alluvial Martinborough soils in 1995. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their tiny 3.5 hectare, close planted vineyard are made by talented winemaker Wendy Potts.
