Gaia Wild Ferment Assyrtiko 2019

As the main grape variety grown on Santorini, Assyrtiko is widely considered Greece's best white variety. Gaia's Wild Ferment Assyrtiko was first made in 2008 and will give any great white variety a run for its money. 80 year old Assyrtiko vines are grown on the volcanic soils of Santorini. A perfect fit of grape variety and vineyard site, this sublime white has lazer-beam precision, a richness of fruit weight, with refreshing waves of citrus and honey flavours. It finishes with a dry almost saline quality.

Greek producer Gaia have two vineyards. One is on Santorini where they focus on the production of the white variety Assyrtiko. The other is in Nemea, in the north east of the Peloponnese peninsula, where they focus on the production of the red variety Agiorgitiko. Gaia are synonymous with quality expressions of indigenous Greek varieties.
