We love the ripe fruit profile of this Savvy B. It leans towards passion fruit, rock melon and ripe stone fruit, with nice weight and density in the mouth. But there’s still this variety’s signature freshness, it’s zingy and kiwi fruit fresh. One third of the wine is fermented and aged in barrel, contributing to texture, with the balance in stainless steel.
Based in dreamy Martinborough, Alex Muir and Leah Creaven produce wines from 2 hectares of vineyard at Drummond Farm. It’s a soulful, creative pursuit with a strong consideration for looking after the land. Vines are dry farmed organically, and there’s a commitment to restoring biodiversity with 1300 native trees having been planted. Their collaboration with Carterton potter Paul Melser to produce reusable ceramic bottles is also well worth keeping an eye out for.
