Koehler-Ruprecht Kallstadter Riesling Kabinett Trocken 2020
Densely packed with flavours of citrus and stonefruit, this is delightfully succulent, and very friendly bottle of wine. It’s got honeyed richness, but finishes dry. It comes from the village of Kallstadt in Pfalz, and it will put a smile on your face.
Koehler-Rupecht march to the beat of their own drum, owned by the Sauvage family, who also own Burn Cottage in Central Otago. The Pfalz based estate was brought to the fore by industry legend Berne Philippi. The wines are biodynamically grown, and now made by Dominik Sona, an absolute dude who was born and raised in the region. Pfalz is Germany’s second largest wine region and a relatively warm one. It sits along an extension of the Vosges Mountains to the north of Alsace.
