Domaine Latour-Giraud Cuvée Charles Maxime Meursault 2019

Meursault remains one of the world’s greatest expressions of Chardonnay, and Latour-Giraud is a producer there of low key brilliance. Being a touch shy at first, nutty, dried hay, citrus aromatics soon open up, with creamy texture and taut freshness in the mouth. As well as having excellent Grand Cru holdings, the domaine has 3 hectares in 7 climats of village designated vineyards. Named after the estate’s grandfathers, Charles Giraud and Maxime Latour, this cuvée is a blend of those vineyards.

This family can trace their history in Meursault back to the 1600s, and became Latour-Giraud in 1958. Currently in the hands of Jean-Pierre Latour, it’s the archetypal small Burgundian domaine, unassumingly producing tiny quantities of spectacular Meursault that are true to place.
